Today, the Microsoft India.s retail website got hacked. The reports indicate that the customer information including usernames and passwords would have been compromised. The Chinese hacking group called Evil Shadow Team is believed to be the one behind the attack.

Website hacking has been a troublesome arena for Indian government for some time now. Some top Indian websites, including that of the country’s Central Bureau of Investigation, have been hacked in the recent past. According to government data, a total of 117 government websites were defaced during the period January-June, 2011.

In another separate attack, the Anonymous group and other hacktivists attacked sites such as US Census Bureau, Interpol along with the CIA website according to a tweet from Anonymous channel.

Just wondering whether these websites were easy targets or they were targeted and undergoing APT attacks?
